Indian Railways Centralised Traffic Control
A centralized traffic control is first of its own kinds on Indian Railways. This system has electronic interlocking and automatic signaling system and it has been set-up on Ghaziabad- Kanpur section. The prime focus of this system is to enhance the safety and security as well as line capacity of the railways operations. The process of Railway ticket reservation has been made less complicated and approved from Railway Ministry of India.
As Ghaziabad-Kanpur is one of the busiest segments of Indian Railways covering 410 KM long electrified route in a day along with 200 trains; there was a need to centralize the operations.
About Indian Railways Centralized Traffic Control System
With the advancements in technologies, Indian Railways is all set to get rid of the old systems. The main reason behind this is because the existing systems are obsolete and outdated. The systems have to meet the requirements and technical aspects of signaling and telecommunications. The process for replacements has been implemented already and the new goals have been set for providing automatic signaling even on busy routes.
The busy routes include 47 stations and 9 big yards including the stations such as Aligarh, Etawah, Tundla and Dadri. It has been observed that most of the routes are very crowded and there is a need to implement traffic control system to ensure the smooth operations of Indian Railways. The official has confirmed that there will be establishment for CTC center at Tundla.
It has been decided that there will be large panorama projection and entire section will be displayed along with the remote control of signaling gears, conflict resolving plans in train connectors, current plan computation and time table management. It will also regulate the entire statistics of Ghaziabad-Kanpur section.
In order to meet the today’s fast growing technical requirements, Mobile train Radio Communication ( MTRC) has also been planned for execution as a pilot project. With the help of this system, there will be fast and clear communication between the control room, the drive and station master for the smooth operation of trains. This is still not possible with Indian Railways.
The railway systems have been coming up with latest technical advancements so that passengers can get maximum benefits. We can expect to get more facilities, easy reservations and updated information with these systems. The government aims to be the top most railway systems all over the world.
